About this event

Come down to Vert Woods, and join us in celebrating our ancient woodland, and all of the people who help it continue to thrive. This celebration marks a decade of community, care, and connection with the forest. We come together to celebrate a living tradition where people support nature, build community, and reconnect with the woodland. Held in the heart of the ancient Vert Woods, the gathering invites everyone to take part in the next chapter of Laughton Greenwood’s story. This year, the day kicks off with our usual volunteering (with of course tea and biscuits), from 10 o'clock. This will be followed by lunch, nature walks, children’s activities, woodland art, and more. We are aiming to complete “the world’s largest woodland collage” throughout the day, meanwhile we are blessed to have Marina Robb who will explain how NHS practitioners can use the environment and local nature spaces in their practice. Laughton Greenwood has a rich history as a community-led woodland. Safe to say there will be something for everyone. What began as a volunteer effort to restore a neglected patch of forest has become a vibrant green space full of wildlife, learning, and nature-based activities. Over the years volunteers have created paths and bridges while supporting biodiversity through conservation work. Achievements include the planting of around 2000 native tree species and, this year, the renovation of an ancient pond that is vital for local wildlife.
