Thursdays 23rd & 30th July and 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th August 2026, 11am – 4pm Join us to practice your archery skills overlooking the ancient Roman Fort of Magna at this family-friendly event. Aim for the high score on the target as you have a go at shooting a bow and arrow. Can you be as accurate as the Roman soldiers would have been? Magna Fort, at the site of the Roman Army Museum, was home to a cohort of Hamian archers arriving in Britannia from Syria. Colour in your own Hamian archer as you learn more about the diverse cohorts who were stationed on Hadrian’s Wall and the evidence we have for them. Make sure to check out our blog to learn more about the Hamian archers! (This event will use child-friendly sucker arrows and is open to all ages). If you can’t join us on the day, download this worksheet to and practice your aim at home! This event is free with admission to the site. Download the visual story for Have-a-Go Archery here.
