There’s a certain kind of jazz that doesn’t need to shout to hold a room. The Robert Reid Jazz Trio brings exactly that spirit to Barnaby’s Lounge. Elegant, melodic and deeply rooted in the traditions of classic jazz piano, Robert’s playing draws inspiration from some of the great masters of the genre, blending sophistication, warmth and effortless swing. After originally studying classical piano, Robert’s musical direction changed when he discovered the brilliance of jazz legends such as Fats Waller, Art Tatum and Oscar Peterson. The result is a style that balances technical finesse with genuine feeling and spontaneity. Alongside members of his various ensembles, he has shared stages and bills with respected names including Humphrey Lyttelton, Scott Hamilton, Jacqui Dankworth, Jamie Cullum, Lianne Carroll, Acker Bilk, Derek Nash and John Etheridge.
