Celebrate Fathers' Day at Thinktank with LEGO activities across the whole weekend!Get ready to unleash your creativity and immerse yourself in a world of bricks! Fun and inspiration await visitors of all ages across four floors of the museum.What’s on:Giant LEGO blocks - build your own life-size creations! DUPLO build stations – Perfect for our younger builders to explore and create vehicles LEGO speed building challenge – can you make it onto our speedy builders' scoreboard? Big community build - make a LEGO portrait of your dad or father figure and we'll add it to our big community mosaic! SATURDAY 20TH ONLY - after a day of building, stay to watch The Lego Movie in our Planetarium! Film starts promptly at 4:30pm. (Additional charge applies). Whether you’re a master builder or just love playing with LEGO bricks, there’s something for everyone. Come and join us for a weekend full of imagination, creativity, and fun at Thinktank!

Inspired by places like the Red House and Kelmscott Manor, which became living experiments in the Arts & Crafts ideals of beauty, craftsmanship, and communal creativity, this space invites artists to come together, share ideas, and create side by side.Whether you’re a practising artist, a student, a maker, or simply someone curious about the local creative scene, this is a space to meet others, talk about your work, and collaborate in an open, supportive environment.A Space for Sharing, Learning, and Community.It’s a place where creativity is communal, not competitive, where everyone contributes to a shared atmosphere of curiosity.Event information: 1 pm - 2 pmGet an exclusive peek into our curator's minds – Learn what they do in the museum / pick their brains for advice, talk to them about your work. A chance to meet and greet.2 pm – 3 pmBring your ideas to the table, find a collaborator, come and experiment and work together to produce your work. A relaxed networking session. Inspired by our favourite Arts and Crafts artists. 3 pm – 4.45 pmA chance to present your work/ process in the form of a presentation/ almost like a pop-up show, but in slides! It doesn’t have to be a complete idea; you can just showcase your process, bring your materials, and talk about the ways you work.

A special themed guided tour of the Smith & Pepper workshop exploring the role of Birmingham and the Jewellery Quarter in the first and second world wars.Birmingham was the single most important place for munitions work. But who worked here and what did they produce? Discover the lives of the people who contributed to these war efforts, their loves and losses, both in and around the Jewellery Quarter.Journey through Smith and Pepper on a guided tour researched and written by our award-winning historian. Spanning both world wars, you’ll hear about the family connections and service in war, local bombing, a local silversmith soldier, migrant workers and women.Finally, the tour guide will demonstrate some original machines used for munitions work from 1942.Places on this tour are limited. Pre-booking recommended.

Paint & Prosecco at Sarehole Mill

Join us for an afternoon of painting and Prosecco amongst the idyllic surroundings of Sarehole Mill.Unleash your creativity and spend a relaxing afternoon creating your own artwork whilst sipping Prosecco in the grounds of Sarehole Mill with Wild Earth Movement.You will be provided with all the paints and materials you need to paint a perfect view of Sarehole Mill, our Millpond and its lush surroundings, while enjoying Prosecco throughout the session.You will use natural pigments found in nature, herbs and spices to create your colour palette. You'll test out different techniques to release the pigments and create a colour chart before starting your final piece. You will be painting the mill and the surrounding area from the decking, taking in the tranquillity of the surroundings. At the end of the session, you will have the knowledge of using nature in art, your colour chart, and a finished piece of your interpretation of Sarehole Mill.Event informationThis event will last 2 hours from 12 noon until 2 pm with a break halfway through.Over 18’s only to be served alcohol. ID may be required for those who look under 25.Non-alcoholic drinks can be provided on request.The session will take place outdoors unless there is inclement weather.
