Alistair McGowan – Thursday 4 June 7.30pm – Dinton Hall, Wilts. SP3 5EB – £30/45 www.cherubimtrust.org/events TV’s Impressionist Alistair McGowan is one of the country’s top comedy geniuses, long been known for his pin-sharp characterisations. Recently he branched out as a pianist with a #1 hit in the classical charts on Sony, founded the Ludlow Piano Festival and published two books of poetry. Now he’s visiting Dinton Village Hall on Thu 4 June to give a fundraising show for Cherubim Music Trust. And there’s more, Alistair is supported by Cherubim’s ‘You-Tuba’ Dafydd Owen – who shows us the funny side of being at the bottom of the orchestra! Seriously, Alec won the National Eisteddfod in 2019. He is accompanied by Cherubim’s flamboyant director Michæl Maxwell Steer. The other virtuoso support act is percussionist Alec Banner on marimba. Alec is principal percussionist in the National Youth Brass Band, and begins a degree at Royal Welsh College of Music this autumn. A fabulous evening of music, fun, poetry and wit in aid of Cherubim Music Trust. http://cherubimtrust.org/ is a national charity based in Tisbury, Wilts that loans professional-calibre orchestral instruments to advanced music students. This year Cherubim is celebrating its 25th anniversary by appealing for a fourth concert harp for BBC Young Musician Jamaal Kashim.
