Join us for SUMMERSONG at the ABBEY, an uplifting afternoon of harmony singing in the stunning Great Hall. After three sold-out events, we’re thrilled to welcome voices together once again for a joyful celebration of summer through song. This three-hour workshop will be led by Emily Marshall, Elena Harris and Holly Taylor-Zuntz: three local choir leaders with different musical flavours joining forces to share songs they love. Together they’ll create a rich and varied session of harmony singing. All songs are taught by ear in the Natural Voice tradition, so there’s no need to read music. Whether you’re a seasoned singer or completely new to group singing, everyone is welcome to join this relaxed and inspiring afternoon of shared song. MORE INFORMATION HERE.

Join us for an engaging and interactive talk exploring the foundations of Ayurveda, the ancient holistic healing system. This session offers practical insights into how we can better understand ourselves, our health and our connection to the natural world. Topics We Will Explore: · The Ayurveda worldview – History and understanding life through balance and interconnectedness · Micro and macro levels — the relationship between the individual and the universe · Introduction to the Doshas (Bio energies) and how they influence our body and mind · The use of some herbs and spices in everyday wellbeing and healing · Practical ways to bring Ayurvedic principles into modern daily life The talk is designed to be interactive and practical for both beginners and those already interested in holistic health. It will be led by Vimla Chendriah, Vimla is the founder of VedaSante Health, speaker, published author, Ayurvedic and Mindfulness practitioner, a former NHS health clinician and corporate professional. At the heart of Vimla’s work is a powerful mission: to bring ancient wisdom into the modern world with the support of other qualified practitioners. She is an Amazon best-selling author of “30 Days to a Healthier and Happier You, Ancient Wisdom for Modern Living”. Centering Prayer Introductory Workshop

Introductory Day The Introductory Workshop familiarises participants with the method of Centering Prayer and its conceptual background and offers two opportunities to experience the prayer. The workshop consists of three presentations led by Contemplative Outreach commissioned presenters. 1. Prayer as Relationship 2. The Method of Centering Prayer 3. Thoughts and the Use of the Sacred Word Time for Discussion and Questions After the Introductory Day, there will be a follow-up programme using YouTube videos. This can be done over either six or twelve weeks. Anyone who attends the Introductory Day can run it, either individually or as part of a team. Further information will be provided on 11th July for those who are interested. Centering Prayer is a contemporary expression of the Christian Contemplative Tradition as developed by the Desert Fathers and Mothers and elaborated by mystics such as John Cassian, John of the Cross, The Cloud of Unknowing, and Teresa of Avila, to name a few. To practice this prayer, you may have to change your idea of prayer. The method also brings the prayer into dialogue with neurology. This exceptional workshop will be led by Elizabeth Smith. Elizabeth Smith is a wife, mother, and grandmother, whose journey with Centering Prayer began in 1988 when she attended a retreat in England led by Fr. Thomas Keating. The following year, Elizabeth travelled to the United States to train as a Presenter.

Summer Singing and Movement Retreat Day

About the session Join a lively day of beautiful songs in full harmony, all taught by ear, complemented by a special session of gentle Dru yoga dance led by guest teacher Lottie May, to help you relax, open up and enjoy flowing movement that supports your voice. Rachel Holmes is a singer and natural voice choir leader based in Oxfordshire. She connects emotion, body and voice into powerful group singing. In 2019 she trained as a natural voice leader with Kate Valentine and completed her Foundation in Art Therapy at IATE in 2021. Rachel loves bringing these threads together into a holistic and uplifting experience of singing. Lottie May qualified as a Dru Yoga teacher in 2005, after finding the practice relieved her low energy and pain. Her passion for yoga and dance led to her create and teach yoga dance choreographies based on Dru yoga sequences and postures. More information here.
