Royston Cave Wine Tasting with Château Roubine

Step inside the mysterious Royston Cave for an unforgettable evening where history and wine come together. This unique event blends a guided tour of the cave with a wine tasting, all taking place simultaneously within this remarkable underground space. As you explore the carvings and stories of Royston Cave, you’ll enjoy tastings of three rosé wines, led by Valerie Rousselle of Château Roubine, a celebrated Provençal estate with historic connections to the Knights Templar. Valerie will guide you through each rosé, sharing insights into their style, provenance, and the traditions behind them. The immersive format allows ancient history and modern craftsmanship to unfold together: carved stone walls, evocative symbolism, and elegant rosé wines experienced side by side. The result is a truly atmospheric evening where learning, tasting, and discovery happen in tandem. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a wine lover, or simply seeking a distinctive and memorable night out, this event offers something exceptional. Numbers are limited, ensuring an intimate experience beneath Royston in one of Hertfordshire’s most intriguing and enigmatic landmarks. Two sessions will be available to choose from: Session 1: 6:00pm – 7:00pm Session 2: 7:30pm – 8:30pm Access The cave can be slippery and uneven underfoot. Access includes 21 steps and an incline to be ascended and descended. Visitors are advised to take care, use the handrail provided and wear appropriate, sturdy footwear.

Wine Basics with Amelia

Join us in store for a brand new kind of tasting! Over three Wednesday evenings in April, May and June, Amelia invites you for an informal and fun night of wine tasting with nibbles for beginners! Wine can be confusing. Swirling, sniffing, mysterious tasting notes, and wine lists that read like a foreign language. This series is here to change that. Our Wine Basics events are made for beginners and wine lovers of all ages – no jargon, no pressure – just good wine, nibbles, simple explanations, and the confidence to actually enjoy what you’re drinking. These events are casual and interactive. Ask questions, interrupt, laugh, disagree, and taste along with the group. If you’ve ever been afraid to ask a wine question, this is exactly the place to do it. It’s more conversation than lecture, and the focus is on learning by tasting. We’ll cover how to taste wine without overthinking it, how to order better (and stress less) in restaurants, and the essential things you need to know to make sense of the wine world. At each tasting we’ll cover new ideas and different wines, so you don’t have to come to all three dates, but if you can then you’ll go from beginner to expert in no time! The best part? Every wine we taste will offer great value for money, because great wine doesn’t need to be expensive. Come curious. Leave confident. Additional dates: Wednesday 15th July (Wednesday 20th May) Tickets: £15 per person
