In this workshop we will be introduced by Alette Willis to the Climate Resilience Herbs planted in St Mary’s Community Garden. We will get to know the herbs through creating drawings in a spiral form. Our drawings will be embellished with botanical inks and earth pigments. A one day workshop with Alette Willis – herbologist and storyteller – and Sarah Gittins – artist and educator Fee: £60

Children's Come and Sing

Calling all children in P3–7 who love to sing! Join us for an afternoon of singing songs on the theme ‘Earth, Sea and Sky’. Doors will be open from 1:30pm on the day, with the singing starting at 2pm. The afternoon will include a break for juice and a biscuit, and children will be fully supervised by Cathedral staff for the duration of the workshop. The afternoon will end with a short, informal performance of songs learnt during the afternoon at 4pm. Parents and families are warmly invited to join us for this – please note that no tickets are necessary to attend the performance. Book using this link.

Come and join us on the heartwarming trip of a lifetime around the world in 60 minutes of words and music. Setting out from Orkney, ‘Journeyings’ will circumnavigate the globe via Glasgow, London, Venice, Antarctica and other destinations between, even the Moon! Our programme took shape from an idea proposed at Innerpeffray Library near Crieff and includes music by Peter Maxwell Davies, Felix Mendelssohn and Erik Satie as well as the writing of George Mackay Brown, Jackie Kay and Gerda Stevenson, and many more. This significant event, on Saturday 17 October, 2pm-4pm, in the Walpole Hall (St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral), will be led by Dr Léon Van Ommen, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Divinity and Religious Studies and Co-Director of the Centre for Autism and Theology at Aberdeen University. “What if our worship could bring us even closer to God and to each other? What if our communities could be blessed even more? By listening deeply to neurodivergent people, we can. And yet, so often neurodivergent people feel it is difficult to be in the worship space or take part in the life of the community. In this workshop, we will listen deeply, in order to worship more faithfully and to be blessed richly.
