Big soul. Proper funk. Classic rock & roll. M.T. Pockets bring the feel-good live soundtrack Margate loves, join us in the sunshine. Summer Sundays: M.T. Pockets Live at The Oval Bandstand M.T. Pockets are a high-energy live band bringing serious soul, tight funk and classic rock & roll to The Oval. Expect James Brown grooves, Bruno Mars-style floor-fillers and big, bold vocals that demand you move. Known for electrifying performances and a packed dancefloor, they’re a must-see for anyone who loves proper live soul with rhythm and punch. Our popular summer season of concerts is back, and this year we are bringing even more performances across a wider variety of genres to The Oval Bandstand & Lawns. The Oval’s Summer Sundays concerts take place throughout the summer season (subject to weather conditions). Bandstand concerts are back for a glorious summer of entertainment! Doors, toilets and concessions open: 1pm – 5pm . Concert: 2pm – 4pm. A minimum £2 donation per adult on door (under 16’s no donation required). All persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. A fully licensed bar and food is available (alcohol and food is not to be brought into venue, bag searches are in operation). Fully accessible toilet facilities are available. All seating areas have step-free access. There is no car parking at the venue, please use public transport, bicycles, or arrive on foot.

Margate Textile Society meeting

Weekly meetings around the love of textile techniques, materials, styles, meanings, socio-political impact and potential for change and healing whilst honing and sharing timeless skills. No previous experience required. Bring your project or start one here! Tools, supplies, and support available. Donations of fabrics and yarn always appreciated. Drop-in £5 or £15 monthly, including refreshments [cake, teas and juice]. No one turned away for lack of funds. Free of under 18 or over 65. Ph: The first quilt is coming together! Two hundred and fifty of the about 1,000 fabric hexagons needed for this classic paper-pieced English quilt are now ready, as more hands join in to stitch it together. This beauty will be auctioned in support of the Weaving an Axis of Resilience: Manar, Daughter of Palestine initiative next September. Italian sourdough pizza with vegan and gluten-free options; bar with beers, ciders, cocktails and Italian wines; Thursday potato gnocchi & tiramisù; teas and brews, all served from 6pm.
