Annual Farm Walk – Burnt House Vineyard courtesy of the Scarff family

The Scarff family are kindly hosting this years annual farm walk. Founded in 1925 on just 12 acres of pastureland, Burnt House is a family-run vineyard located in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. It is owned and managed by James Scarff, of Scarff’s Farms. Producing both still and sparkling wines, they specialise in Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, and Bacchus grapes varieties. The vineyard operations are run alongside a traditional arable enterprise, with great attention to detail through new technology. Working closely with Farmacy and Omnia, James has huge experience with the latest agronomic monitoring and services they provide for both the farm and the vineyard. Join us for a ‘tour and tasting’ evening, where James will take us for a tour of the vineyard and explain the highs and lows of British wine production. With the help of both Farmacy and Omnia representatives, we will learn how they aid James in his day to day arable and vineyard operations. We will end the tour at their state of the art tasting and hospitality room, where we will have to opportunity to try a mixture of 3 of their wines. This will be accompanied by a hearty spread of cheeses, charcuterie and breads that pair with the wines and venue. This is a working farm tour on foot, but provided the weather is on our side it should be relatively easy walking. The tour should take approximately an hour and a half, but will include plenty of stops for discussion.
