Join researchers/writers Frogg and Ruby Moody as they take you on a tour of Salisbury’s beautiful Cathedral Close. Over the years the Close has been the home to writers, researchers, poets, painters, politicians, musicians and many other colourful characters. ‘Close Encounters’ will highlight some of Frogg and Ruby’s favourite tales whilst also delving into the many ghostly legends! Meeting Point: Walk into the Cathedral Close via the High Street gate go to the green on the righthand side and meet at the red telephone box.

Salisbury Arts Centre Pop-Up Café

Join us at our trial pop-up cafe, staffed by volunteers with a passion for the Arts Centre and for creating a welcoming space for local people in a building that so many people love. Open from 10 – 2pm on a range of dates this Spring/Summer. Check our pop-up dates before popping along to our pop-up for a cup of tea and a cake beneath the stained glass of St Edmunds. Everyone is welcome, from babes-in-arms to our arts centre elders, with a £2 hot drink always available so that a catch-up with friends need not cost the earth.

Medieval Clock Demonstration

See and hear the world’s oldest working mechanical clock in action. Made in 1386 or earlier, it is mounted in an iron frame and has no dial. In the past the clock struck a bell to remind the priests to pray. Come and watch while the mechanism is unlocked allowing the clock to strike a bell as it first did over 600 years ago. This demonstration lasts 10 to 15 minutes.
