About this event

Written and directed by John Binnie Musical arrangements and additional music by Alyson Orr Songs and poetry by Robert Burns Following on from its sell-out success at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, this dynamic musical play explores the life of Robert Burns through the eyes of the three women who knew him best - his mother, his wife and his muse. It's 25th January 1797. Rabbie Burns has recently died. On his birthday his mother comes to the graveyard in Dumfries to remember her son. She is unexpectedly interrupted by Burns’ widow Jean Armour, the mother to nine of his children. The two women have history, and sparks fly. Unbeknownst to them, a mysterious figure watches from the shadows - Clarinda, Burns’ muse and soulmate. Featuring Burns’s timeless songs and poetry, including My Love Is Like a Red, Red Rose, Ae Fond Kiss, and Auld Lang Syne, A Toast Fae the Lassies invites you to experience the first Burns Night like never before. A post show Q&A with the writers and creative team will follow the performance.
