Join us on our 8-week pottery wheel ceramic course! This course is suitable for beginners and those with experience. Please note there are no classes over the two week Easter Break: Saturday 28 March and Saturday 4 April. If you’re new to pottery, you’ll start by learning the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel, trimming, and glazing your creations. Over the course, you’ll spend four weeks practising throwing, two weeks refining and trimming your pieces, and another two weeks glazing your finished work (see the schedule below). For returning potters, the course offers a range of projects designed to build on your existing skills and push your creativity further. You’ll have the opportunity to throw several pieces during the term and keep between four and six of your favourites. Weeks 1 & 2: Throwing – Get back on the wheel to shape your clay creations. Weeks 3: Turning, carving, and adding handles – Bring your pieces to life with finishing touches. Weeks 4 & 5: Throwing – Get back on the wheel to shape your clay creations. Weeks 6: Turning, carving, and adding handles – Bring your pieces to life with finishing touches. Weeks 7 & 8: Glazing – Experiment with colour and texture to complete your work. The back to back 2 weeks of throwing in weeks 1 & 2, and weeks 4 & 5 allow lots of practice.
