Cottiers are delighted to host Heidi Talbot for an afternoon show on Sunday the 6th ofSeptember with doors at 3.00pm.Described by The New York Times as possessing “a voice that’s both awestruck andtender,” Irish-born, Edinburgh-based singer Heidi Talbot has carved out an extraordinarycareer that bridges the worlds of folk, contemporary, and roots music. From her early daysgrowing up in Co. Kildare to becoming a folk star in the U.S. with the Irish-American bandCherish the Ladies, Talbot’s journey has taken her to many of the world’s great stages – fromthe White House to the Sydney Opera House. Heidi has shared stages and studios with a remarkable array of artists, including MarkKnopfler, Graham Coxon (Blur), Eddi Reader, Jerry Douglas, King Creosote, Tim O’Brien,and Idlewild. NYCOS 30th Anniversary Gala Concert: Carmina Burana | Usher Hall, Edinburgh

Celebrate with us as we mark the National Youth Choir of Scotland’s 30th anniversary alongside the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we return to Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, one of the most recognisable choral works ever written. Famous for its dramatic opening O Fortuna, this exhilarating cantata sets 24 medieval poems exploring fate, love, springtime and the unpredictability of life, brought vividly to life through driving rhythms, powerful choral writing and rich orchestral colour. The programme also includes the world premiere of The World by Jay Capperauld, with text by Robert Louis Stevenson and Niall Campbell, written especially to mark NYCOS’ 30th anniversary, and Jonathan Dove’s The Passing of the Year, heard in its newly orchestrated version for the first time in Scotland. Conducted by Artistic Director Christopher Bell, one hundred and forty of Scotland’s finest young singers perform alongside the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in a landmark anniversary concert that reflects both celebration and renewal. *£2.00 transaction fee applies per booking

Bad Co Legacy

BAD CO – The Legacy For seven years Robert Hart was the lead singer of Bad Co in its classic rock era. He has also played many years with The Jones Gang with Kenny Jones of The Faces. and currently with Manfred Mann’s Earthband. Dave ‘Bucket’ Colwell, guitarist, spent 12 years in Bad Co, was a member of Humble Pie for several years recording, co-writing and producing the album Back on Track, The Jones Gang, ASAP and many other bands. During 1992, Hart was approached by Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke and asked if he would like to join them as the third lead vocalist for Bad Company, following Paul Rodgers and Brian Howe. Hart performed with Bad Company, touring the world including the US and Canada. In July 1994 a contract was drawn up by Alliance Artists and Legend Management and signed by the then Bad Company line up, Mick Ralphs, Simon Kirke, Robert Hart, Dave “Bucket” Colwell and Rick Wills. In 1995 a self-produced Bad Company album was released, Company of Strangers, with Hart who bore a vocal similarity to Paul Rodgers. It contained four tracks self-penned or co-written by Hart. The band made a promotional tour of the US with Bon Jovi. In 1996 another Bad Co album, Stories Told and Untold featured Hart and contained seven new compositions and seven acoustic versions including ‘Can’t Get Enough’ and ‘Ready For Love’. Hart was also lead vocalist on three live albums between 1994 and 2001.
